We all have times of anxiety and worry in our lives, but for those living with anxiety disorders everyday life can be significantly disrupted. The most common of all mental health disorders, anxiety includes a wide variety of symptoms such as overwhelming anxiety and fear, obsessive thoughts, frightening physical symptoms, panic attacks and links with depression. You can access these databases with your library card number from any computer with an internet connection. All of our libraries offer access on free internet PCs, and staff can provide assistance.

Health and Wellness Resource Center
& Alternative Health Module:
This database contains information on: Fitness, Pregnancy, Medicine, Nutrition, Diseases, Public Health, Occupational Health and Safety, Alcohol and Drug Abuse, Prescription Drugs, Herbal Remedies, and Alternative or Complementary treatments, and more.
The information comes from health encyclopedias, health dictionaries, and health journal and newspaper articles which are mostly full text.

EBSCO
EBSCO gives access to: health articles and abstracts including Lancet, Journal of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Harvard Health Letter (from Harvard Medical School) and American Family Physician, plus many more publications.

MedlinePlus
The library allows free access to MedlinePlus from any of the free internet pcs in our libraries and at each enquiry desk. MedlinePlus is a medical database available online and run by the US National Library of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health.
The New Zealand Medical Journal
A database of the New Zealand Medical Journal is also available on the free Internet PCs in Science and Humanities, 1st floor, Central Library.
This is a database that can only be accessed in person at the Central Library - there is no remote access to this database, although there is free access on the New Zealand Medical Journal's website to articles older than 6 months.
