It is what it is : the autobiography- David Coulthard with Martin Roach.
- "From his quiet beginnings in rural Scotland to his multi-millionaire lifestyle in Monte Carlo, where he owns one of the most luxurious hotels in the principality, David Coulthard's life story is an extraordinary one. He got his breakthrough into Formula One in the tragic circumstances of Ayrton Senna's death in 1994, and quickly established himself as one of the best drivers on the circuit. From 1996-2004, he drove for McLaren, one of the leading teams throughout the entire period, before moving to Red Bull for 2005-07. Taking the reader from his early days when he first became hooked on racing karts at the age of eleven, through to the high-speed world of Formula One he now inhabits, Coulthard has written one of the most honest and powerful sports autobiographies of recent years." - Mini down under : 50 years of the Mini in New Zealand
- By Donn Anderson
- "Mini Down Under traces the history of one of New Zealand's - and the world's - best-loved cars. More versions of the Mini were available in New Zealand than anywhere else, and the launching of the iconic car in February 1960 was a larger-than-life event. In this lively and personal story, the author tracks the Mini's life in New Zealand, the connection between Kiwi racing driver Bruce McLaren and the birth of the Mini Cooper, the heady days of competition success in the Antipodes, the local assembly and marketing of the classic original car and the eventual development into the latest generation Mini for a new century." - Scott Dixon : a tribute to the Indy 500 legend
- By John Matheson.
- "Scott Dixon's triumph at the Indy 500 in 2008 was the climax of a career that had played out in front of the country since he first appeared on our television sets as a 13-year-old car-racing phenomenon. Scott Dixon: A tribute to the Indy 500 legend charts Dixon's career from those early days through to this year's incredible drive at Indianapolis and his triumph in the drivers' standings in the IndyCar Series. Author John Matheson follows Dixon's career in remarkable detail, from his days racing at the top New Zealand and Australian circuits through to his breakthrough in the Indy Lights in 1999 when he signed for the Johansson Motorsports team." Car & Motorcyle Manual Quicksearch
Where can I find the manuals?
The Central Library has a large collection of car and motorcycle repair manuals, mainly for older models. The manuals are shelved near the Science & Humanities enquiries desk, North end, first floor.
There is no car manual for my car, why does the library not hold it?
The Library purchases as many maintenance manuals as possible for vehicles in use on New Zealand roads. We are limited, however, by what is available for purchase. Currently there are few manuals for the newer vehicle models, such as the Suzuki Swift, the Kia and the Subaru Impeza, being published.
How long can I borrow them for?
All car and motorcycle manuals are issued for one week only.
Are these all the makes of car you have manuals for?
No. These are just the most popular.
It is often quickest to browse the shelves as the manuals are organised alphabetically by make, and similar models are shelved together.
To see if we have the make of car you're interested in, try a keyword search on the libraries' catalogue and type in the car make and model and the word 'manual'. Jot down the call number e.g. TOY 032 and look for the book on the shelves near the Science and Humanities desk.
