BOOK REVIEWS

Reviews by Kids, for Kids

Read some kids' reviews | Write a review | Read about Kids' Choice

What are your favourite books? Have you read anything really excellent recently?

We get book reviews from kids from all over Wellington telling us what they think of what they've read recently. These reviews now get posted on the kids' blog - you can read them all here. For reviews from 2009 (and even older!) visit our old reviews page.

If you'd like to send us a review too, please fill out our review form - we'd love to hear from you!

If you think the book you've just read is absolutely positively fantastic you can nominate it as a Kids' Choice. Just tick the box on the review form!

How to Write a Review

So what's in a good review?

First, tell us a little bit about what happens in the story, but not too much! (You shouldn't tell us any surprise endings, and you probably don't need to tell us that Great Uncle Fitzgibbon's favourite pet budgie was called Gertrude.)

Then, tell us about what you thought. Why was it so good (or why was it bad)? Was there lots of action, or were the characters very real? Did you like the way it was written? Did it make you laugh, or cry, or was it really serious? What did you learn? If you didn't enjoy it, was there anything you liked?

You don't have to write heaps, but we do like hearing your opinion, so don't forget that! If we think your review is particularly good then we might choose it as a Star Review and publish it on the kids' index page!
