This awesome new programme, aimed at 0-2 year olds, is held every Friday during term time. It is an interactive fun filled session of rhymes, songs and fingerplays for babies and their caregivers. Starts at 10:15 and runs for approximately 20 minutes. Baby Rock & Rhyme CDs are now available from the Library for $15.
We have Preschool storytime sessions each week on Mondays and Wednesdays. Storytime starts at 10:30am and lasts 30mins. You will definitely giggle, probably sing, and maybe even dance a little bit while listening to tales from our gifted staff of storytellers. Come along and join the fun.

BookBusters is an energetic, creative and inspiring club for 7-8 year old readers. At Kilbirnie Library our Bookbusters meet on the first Thursday of the Month at 4pm. You would be daft to miss it! BookSeekers is a cool FREE book club for 9 to 12 year olds. We meet on the second Thursday of each month between 4-5pm at the library and share our reading experiences. Wellington City Council is keen to know what you think we should be doing to conserve water or use it more efficiently. Come to Kilbirnie Library to have your say on the Draft Conservation and Efficiency Plan. Monday September 20 at 12-1pm or 6-7pm. The Library will be open for the meeting only until 7pm - Library services will be closed at 6pm.
Matariki
Kilbirnie Library celebrated Matariki by creating a Matariki tree to attach recipes and and new year wishes to.
We also had a puppet show, magical story reading and badge-making as well as a performance by the Lyall Bay School Kapa Haka group and a
Matariki story time - retelling of the Lisa Reweti's Matariki myth the "star fishes" followed by stories read in te Reo Māori by students from Te Kura Kaupapa Māori O Ngā Mokopuna.
Kilbirnie Library hosts a friendly and informal book group for adults. This group meets in the library on the first Thursday of the month from 6-7pm. For further information, email June or ring us on 387 1480.
Join our friendly staff at Kilbirnie Library at 10:15 on the fourth Thursday of the month for morning tea and be entertained for an hour with stories, poems, excerpts and anecdotes from our collection. In June, to celebrate Matariki, we were delighted to have Geraldine Mcglinchy from the Kilbirnie Genealogy Society as our guest speaker. In July as part of the Living Well series, we were entertained by stories from professional story tellers, Marie Murdoch and Sue Esterman. Ring us on 387 1480 for further information.
