Special Events

NZ Poetry Day

Tawa Library held a very successful event for New Zealand Poetry Day on Friday, 30th July. Over 30 people attended, and some even read poems of their own in the open mic segment.

July Holiday Programme

Tawa Library held its school holiday programme on the 15th of July. Over 40 children took part in activities, and heard stories, based on fairytales.

New Books

We're constantly getting fresh and exciting new books here at Tawa Library. New books are displayed in the middle of the library, opposite the self-issue machine.

Coming up at Tawa!

Spring into Tawa is on September 11! Books for children of all ages will be wrapped in paper so your kids can borrow a surprise. So pop into the library on the day and issue some mystery books for your kids. They might discover a new favourite author!


Come in and see our display on spring cleaning your life and decluttering your home. We have a great range of books on style, budgeting and organising your home.



Baby Rock & Rhyme

Baby Rock and Rhyme is a free, fun programme for babies under two years and their parents/caregivers. Sessions are held every Friday morning at 9.30am, during school terms only. Sessions run for 20 - 30 minutes. There is no need to register, just come along and have an enjoyable time with your baby. Pre-school Storytime

  • Storytime is every Monday at Tawa Library at 10:30am in the children's area.
  • Storytime runs for about half an hour, with stories and songs.
  • Pre-school storytimes are fun and free - there's no charge, and you don't have to book.
  • Storytime is aimed at pre-school age children (three and four years old) - but younger siblings are always welcome!

  • Te Reo Story Times - Kōhunga Kōrero
  • is on at Tawa Library every third Wednesday of the month at 10.30am. To find out more about these sessions, visit the Kids What's On page.



BookBusters

BookBusters is a club for 7 and 8 year olds. We meet once a month to talk about favourite books, do activities and listen to stories. The Tawa BookBusters meets on the first Wednesday of every month at 4.00pm. Sessions run for an hour. For more information visit the Bookbusters Club or our Kids' Pages.



BookSeekers

BookSeekers is a fun book club for 9-12 year olds. Tawa's BookSeeker club meets on the second Wednesday of every month at 4.00pm. Sessions run for an hour. For more information, including how to join, check out the BookSeekers page.


Tea and Tales For Seniors

This seniors group meets at 10.30am on the first Tuesday of every month except January. This has proved very popular with everyone joining in sharing items of interest and laughs.



Tawa Local History Books

Tawa Historical Society have published a number of excellent books which can be either be borrowed or purchased at Tawa library. Holding information is available via our catalogue.

Tawa's display to celebrate the release of Eclipse, the third film in author Stephenie Meyer's Twilight saga. Eclipse display

Some sock heroes that Tawa staff, and patrons, have made to celebrate Leadership Week from June 25th - July 2nd. It has been developed by The Sir Peter Blake Trust to inspire, celebrate and develop leadership for all New Zealanders.
